PSVR Sales Now at Over 900,000 Units Sold Through
While Sony hasn’t been coy[1] in saying that the PlayStation VR is a commercial success, the company has now given the gaming public an exact number. In a press release, Sony Interactive Entertainment announced that PSVR sales numbers are now at over 915,000 sold worldwide as of February 19, 2017.
Note that the 915,000 figure is “sold through,” which means sold and not shipped. Given how hard it is to find PSVR units for sale in various parts of the world up to this day, that figure isn’t really that surprising. In addition to that impressive sales figure, Sony has also mentioned that there are over 100 new PSVR experiences set to be released in 2017.
Andrew House, President and Global CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment: Since its October launch, PS VR continues to be well received by people around the world thanks to the high quality, revolutionary VR experience it offers. With more than 53.4 million PS4 units sold through globally we firmly believe PlayStation VR will take the lead position in the VR market. We are increasing production to meet demand and will continuously support content developers as they create innovative VR experiences that are only possible on PlayStation.
